New Delhi, Oct 9: A minor domestic help of police inspector Varunjit Singh in Ludhiana was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in New Professor Colony, Barewal Road on Wednesday night.
As the incident came to light, a clash took place outside the cop’s house, after the deceased’s family alleged that the girl had been sexually exploited and killed. However, Singh, the girl’s employer, who is the head of PCR squad of Ludhiana police claimed the she had hanged herself to death .
As per the reports of Indian Express, things turned violent after the local residents pelted stones at policemen who were deployed to control the situation, injuring Vinod Kumar, SHO, division number 5 police station. Kumar lost his tooth after being hit by a stone. Following the injury, he was taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he underwent a surgery.
As per the reports, the 17-year-old domestic help had been working at the residence Varunjit for the past three years. She used to live in a room on the third floor. Talking to IE, the victim’s brother alleged that he went to meet his sister on Wednesday at 7:30 PM but Varunjit and his family did not allow him. He claimed that Varunjit Singh asked him to reach civil hospital on Thursday morning only after his sister was no more.
Contrary to his brother’s claim, Gurpreet Singh, ACP (west) said that the minor’s body was hanging from a fan when they entered the room in the presence of her two brothers at 12.30 am. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP-III) Surendra Lamba said that the police have videographed the entire sequence, so the allegations of her brothers that the employer did not allow them to meet the girl are baseless.
Initial probe has revealed that the girl was in a relationship with someone. However, a postmortem would be conducted on Friday and only then the cause of death will be ascertain.
