Bollywood movie franchises have a huge money investing and make big money. When a particular film is well received, the makers think turning into a series of movies (a film franchise) would be a worthy investment. And most of the times, it turns out to be fruitful too!
Here are some proofs of that. Right from the costumes, to the make-up, the sets, the background score and most of all the cast and crew involved in the making of the film, needs an investment and it is these big and small factors combined together that make the film a success (or failure).

5. Koi Mil Gaya / Krrish – 294 Crores
This sci-fi action hero Hrithik Roshan starrer starting with Koi Mil Gaya, going on to Krrish and then Krrish 2 made 47 crores, 72 crores, and 175 crores respectively. The total collection from the franchise a whopping 294 crores.
4. Don – 327 Crores
The Don franchise, including the original Amitabh Bachchan starrer flick (1978) and both the SRK starrer ones (2006 and 2011 respectively) made a total of 327 crores from its box office collections.
3. Dhoom – 372 Crores
This YRF production franchise has pelted out three movies so far and its total earnings are 372 crores, including 31 crores, 81 crores and 260 crores from each of them respectively.
2. Dabangg – 499 Crores.
Salman Khan always equals to money clincher. With Dabangg franchise too that proved true. It earned a total of 499 crores, including 249 crores from the first one and 250 crores from Dabangg 2.
1. Baahubali – 1500 + Crores and Running.
Within just a few days of its release Baahubali 2: The Conclusion became the highest grossing Indian film in history all over the world. It crossed the 800 crores mark (and is still grossing returns) and remains unchallenged in the top position as yet. Including the Baahubali collection (650 crores) the figure comes to a total of 1450 crores.
