Yash Raj Films has given cinephiles some of the best movies that Bollywood has to offer. From romantic, thriller, rom-com and comedy, there’s no genre which hasn’t been touched by the production house founded by late filmmaker Yash Chopra. Some of the top grossing films produced by YRF have helped it maintain a foothold in the Indian film industry. Two Rs 300 crore earners, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai have also been backed by YRF.

Now, with the release of Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan a day after Diwali, the film is expected to set the cash registers ringing. It would be interesting to see if the star power of the film will pull people to the cinema halls amidst Diwali festivities. Before that, we give you a quick recap of the performance of last five films bankrolled by YRF.

Sui Dhaaga: Rs 79.02 crore

Yash Raj Films’ latest offering Sui Dhaaga: Made In India, starring Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan, did fairly well at the box office. After a great opening weekend collection of Rs 36.60 crore, the film, inspired by PM Modi’s initiative of Make In India, managed to survive in cinemas for over a month and ended up with a total collection of Rs 79.02 crore in the domestic market.

Hichki: Rs 46.21 crore

Starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role, the social drama Hichki is still making money in the international market and on the home turf too, it managed to pull the audience to theaters. Directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and based on Brad Cohen’s book Front of The Class, the Yash Raj Films’ Hichki had Rani portraying the role of a teacher who suffers from Tourette Syndrome. The film was lauded by critics and cinephiles alike and it earned Rs 46.21 crore in India.

Tiger Zinda Hai: Rs 339.16 crore

Released in 2017, the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif spy thriller set the Indian box office on fire. It became the second highest earner of the year after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. With a Rs 339.16 crore collection, the film wrote many new records. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, it was Salman’s third film to enter the coveted Rs 300 crore club. Also, it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within three days of its release. Tiger Zinda Hai’s opening weekend collection of Rs 114.93 crore is also the highest weekend collection for a Bollywood film.

Qaidi Band: Rs 36 lakh

Made on a budget of Rs 21 crore, the Yash Raj Films production tanked at the box office. The film that introduced newbies Aadar Jain and Anya Singh failed to even recover the production cost and had to settle with meagre earnings of Rs 36 lakh. It is also believed that this is the lowest collection of any YRF project.

Meri Pyaari Bindu: Rs 9.59 crore

The romantic drama Meri Pyaari Bindu, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, didn’t succeed in living up to the expectations of Bollywood buffs. Despite creating buzz with its five chapter trailer and songs, it could manage to only add Rs 9.59 crore to its kitty. Two things which went wrong for the film were the negative reviews and secondly, Baahubali 2. The record-breaking film was still running in theaters and was a distraction for the audience.
