To Counter Prashant Kishor And Replicate Assam Like Win, BJP Forms A Team Of 200 Professionals
For the upcoming assembly elections in the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed a team called ‘Brilliant Minds‘ comprising of 200 professionals.
The team is meant to counter Prashant Kishor, poll strategist of Congress. Kishor was hailed as the architect of Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha victory in 2014, and as the man behind Nitish Kumar’s facile win in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls.
According to media reports, if the team delivers positive results then it could be given the responsibility to manage the campaign for 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In the team of brilliant minds, no person has been made in charge. Everyone has been given different responsibilities. The team will go urban and rural areas as well as reach out to middle class people to learn their priorities and thereafter the party will chose its election strategy and manifesto.
The team comprises of over two dozen IIT and IIM pass outs. Apart from feedback, the team also has to provide ideas to strengthen the party’s campaign.
Reports suggest that the team recently met with party president Amit Shah in Lucknow. According to the team, they find themselves ideologically closer to the BJP.
Earlier, the team gave a presentation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and created a positive impression. Following this, PM Modi sent the team to Shah.
According to BJP’s state president Keshav Maurya, Congress and the team of Prashant Kishor are not in a situation to compete with the BJP in the state. He said the party is aiming to win the assembly elections with majority and it will become a reality.
Maurya also said that the party is telling its workers to work in professional manner and give the right direction to people.
Meanwhile, the BJP will not project a chief ministerial candidate for the UP assembly elections due next year. “All political parties are waiting for the chief ministerial candidate of BJP. For us, every party worker is a CM face. Party had projected CM faces in Assam and Delhi assembly polls. While we succeeded in Assam, we lost Delhi. We fought in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand without projecting any as our CM candidate and won.”
Maurya has reiterated that BJP would contest UP polls on the issue of development and not Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He also alleged that on the occasions of Dussehra and Muharram, violence broke out in a few districts of UP but the state government took action against only one side.
