Navjot Singh Sidhu Keeps His Promise – Donates Rs 15 Lakh To Farmers From His Own Pocket
In a country where our leaders talk a great deal, but rarely, if ever, back it up with actions, Navjot Singh Sidhu has set a new benchmark. The Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Archives and Museums in Punjab, has donated Rs 15 lakh each from his own pocket to some of the farmers who are in distress.
Some farmers had lost their crops due to fire that broke out in the fields of few villages in Punjab’s Amritsar city in April. Sidhu had announced that he would help the farmers as much as possible. And he has come good on his word, unlike almost every other politician in India, by shelling out the money required for the rehabilitation of the farmers and their farms.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, in an interview with ANI, said-
“I was pained by the entire incident. As I felt to do something for the farmers, I gave the money from my own pocket. This gives me satisfaction as I could become a help for them. ‘Simple living and high thinking’ have to be every politician’s motto.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu has certainly set a new bar for all politicians in the country. They can learn a thing or two from him, about making promises AND keeping them!
As for Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, you have won our collective hearts with this gesture!
