In Delhi University, PhD Maths Cut-off For SC/ST Is Zero, Students Rage On Twitter

The reservations in the education has met with a lot of furore among the students, specially because the meritorious students who score high marks are not given berths in their dream college, while the reserved category with less marks get it with ease. How much ‘less’ is really less? Well, For the Delhi University PhD students applying for Maths, it is – ZERO!

The University of Delhi has released the interview schedule and cut off marks for the PhD admissions to the Department of Mathematics. While the cut off for the unreserved categories was held at 94 per cent, the cut off for the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe categories was at zero!

So, basically, a candidate from reserved category just needs to appear for the exam and without attempting anything, he will get a seat!

Unreserved- 94
OBC- 84
SC/ST- 0

A student does have a valid point! Your next professor, who will teach subjects and guide you for exams, may himself not know how to score in one!
