ADHM row: Mumbai Police assures protection to multiplex owners against MNS threat

The ban on Pakistani actors has become a never ending issue in India today. And the film that has been worst hit by the entire furore is Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that stars Fawad Khan in an integral role.

Following the ban, the MNS has been repeatedly issuing threats to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – first they threatened to physically hurt Karan Johar, then they threatened to damage theatres screening the movie. The producers of the film – Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios decided to seek police protection given the mounting threats of hooliganism and vandalism and met the police commissioner on Tuesday.

The police have assured the team of full protection. Ashok Dudhe, the DCP of Mumbai Police, has come out in support of ADHM and said, “We, Mumbai Police, will provide adequate protection to cinema theatres as and when required. To maintain law and order, we will provide protection to every cinema theatre in the city.” The distributors and theatre owners too can now breathe a sigh of relief.
